You seem to have done all your research!
A lot of providers offer a range of portfolios as well, this site does portfolios based on risk level so might be worth a look?

For the uninitiated or lazy that link provides some ideas about building a portfolio.
I am not sure what it has to do with this thread though?

FYI - I see ENRC jumped up today then, now 367p looks like we hit the bottom with our buy.

We will see I guess, if it closes above 362p today it could be interpreted as a breakout from a TA perspective.
Additionally, I purchased Evraz at 304.4p as I got a buy signal to do so on the day after it hit 21.xx% up for the month - although I guess you didn't - so the selection process of this system is still a bit "all over the place".

So, ENRC closed today at 375,3p - a breakout then.
I bought my last EVR on 24/09/2012 at 259.7, still a current holding on 11.9% profit.

ah, I misread your post:) Yes, in TA terms it is a break out but it may be fake ofc.

Did you catch ENRC again today? - It came up as a rising trend buy at 404p.
I bought it from cash in one portfolio, and in another it was already my top holding so I just sold 18% of the shares to take the profit.
fwiw my original "5-year" portfolio is now at 428.9%
My 2010 ISA @ 154.7%
My 2011 ISA @ 2.6% (loss)
My 2012 ISA @ 15.9%

Hi Alicia
No, I did not catch it - for this particular exercise I am still building up to the 3 initial stock positions so have not sold ENRC as I don't have 3 positions yet. This may be a misunderstanding on my part though?:)
I was not able to run the stock filter yesterday at all so I missed HL but my filter is showing them up 19.7% at yesterday's close - so perhaps Friday was the trigger and then execute yesterday if the price dropped? (Again, could be misunderstanding on my part because your system is of course not truly repeatable by me due to factors that are unknown to me).
I can see several issues with this system because for me the selection process is a manual process (and on closing prices instead of the "sometime in the afternoon" time that you use) and if I am not able to run it manually for whatever reason then I will miss the buy signal (even if it was actually the right signal due to said variances). We will have to see whether this system is one that I will want to or am able to follow, as I said we seem to have quite different signals coming up (not in terms of the stock, but price and condition around buy/sell execution) and I of course don't know how my approximation of the system will fare, or have fared over the same period!
For the record I bought ENRC at 344p on 17th Jan 2013, and EVR at 307p on 24th Jan so far. I have now missed the HL, or my manual process filter is not showing it as a signal (perhaps due to having missed out yesterday), so that's where I am with this.....
