Car Insurance - What do I do?

Hi all,
I'm in a situation where I've paid a deposit on a 2nd hand car which is refundable based on if they fix certain issues with the car. The earliest that they may fix it will be the end of the week however my insurance for my current car runs out on Wednesday.
I don't want to insure my current car in case they end up sorting the issue with the new car however I obviously need it to get to work.
What do I do? I've been told to renew my current car and if/when I get my new car, inform the insurance company about it and they will just charge me extra but the new car's insurance is a lot more expensive and I fear they will overcharge me and there won't be anything I can do as I'll be tied to them and will probably have to pay a large cancellation fee.
What should I do?

Check to see what the cancellation fee is, often low in the first 14 days by which time you'll know what car is going to be on cover but can shop around and cancel your renewal they quote silly numbers for the new car0

Swap the info onto the new car and explain that you want the old car covered for upto 2 weeks whilst you sell it.
Some will some wont. If they wont go elsewhere.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
