How long does baileys keep once opened

As the title says really, Id bought some of the baileys orange flavour a few months ago and opened it without thinking. Would it be ok by xmas ? Its not been chilled but kept in a cool place eg a cupboard.

No idea how long it's meant to keep but I'm fairly sure my parents (not big Baileys drinkers) have been wheeling out the same bottle at Christmas for the past 5+ years and it hasn't gone off yet!

I've got an open bottle in the fridge that is probably seven years old this Christmas as I'm fairly certain we had it in the old house and we moved in Feb 2006. Date on the bottle says BBE Jan 2008 and I've just had a little sip to check and it appears to be absolutely fine.

However, I have set myself the challenge of finishing it off this Christmas, to reclaim the space in the fridge.

I guess taste it and see. I have one in the fridge that was opened months ago and I am going to test it and see if it is drinkable.

It wouldn't have lasted 14 days in this house! I admire your restraint.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • It wouldnt last a night in mine ;) already bought three bottles for christmas, & my dh is telling me to buy more bottles!
  • The official line is 2 years from the date of manufacture hence the best before date on the bottle & this guarantee is only that it will taste the same as the day it was made it does not state it will go off after that point.

Baileys is the only cream liqueur that guarantees its taste for 2 years from the day it was made, opened or unopened, stored in the fridge or not when stored away from direct sunlight at a temperature range of 0-25 degrees centigrade
The reality for most cream liqueurs is if they are stored somewhere cool & dark they will very gradually start breaking down after about 4 years. Initially the only way you will be able to tell this is happening is if you to pour a glass & leave it for an hour or 2 then you will notice sugar crystals forming & small specks of fat from the cream floating on the surface. They will still look & taste fine. It will be several more years before they actually do break down to the point where you notice the fat starting to separate & making a thin film floating on the surface when you pour it. When this happens some people chuck them because they look unappealing but even then it still tastes ok & it recombines if you shake the bottle before serving.

I personally wouldn't chuck it until it looked, smelt or tasted off & it's highly unlikely a bottle would be sat around that long.
