Know of any companies closely affiliated with charities?

Options
I am wondering if there are any UK businesses that are associated with charitable organizations. Or if that is even common like it is for most American companies. And I'm not saying that to applaud the American companies that I know of because in most cases the company can just put an organizations logo on their site and all of the sudden they are affiliated and the company can say they donate.:o I'm interested in the companies that actually donate real numbers to organizations. Like the Wand Corporation. They actually do a lot for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and Toys for Tots. Caribou Coffee is also a good one if you've heard about it. They donate pounds of coffee to troops overseas every holiday season.

If you can mention a few companies that have real connections with charitable organizations I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks in advance!

  • Every client I've had gives a substancial amount to charity, they are less showy about it than in the USA.

Additionally a fair few had policies to match or double match any donations made/raised by staff - so if you raised £500 for Movember the employer would give the charity and additional £1,000
  • A good research tool is https://www.companygiving.org.uk but it is not free.

The print version is The Guide to UK Company Giving 2011/12 at £75. See http://www.dsc.org.uk/Publications/Fundraisingsources/@2727

There will be a new edition next month.

"The Guide to UK Company Giving, now in its eighth edition includes details of around 600 companies in the UK (100 more than in the previous edition) that give a combined total of around £762 million in community support to voluntary and community organisations, including £512 million in cash donations.

    The book:
    - Lists the top 100 companies in detail
    - Lists the next 500 in a concise directory giving summary information
    - Gives advice on what to be aware of when seeking company support
    - Provides reasons why to apply to companies
    - Suggests helpful tips on how to apply
    - Gives help on how to attract a successful partnership or sponsor"

Now this might sound like a lot for a book but speaking as a professional fundraiser, it is cheap for what you get. You might contact the volunteer service bureaus and libraries in your area to see if they have a copy.

Lots of charities have wholly benevolent partner companies for tax reasons. The Big Issue/The Big Issue Foundation etc

Also lots of banks and other companies do match funding schemes, so if an employer does a fundraising event, they get it matched.
