Car Insurance advice??

I have a policy on a 1.2 fiesta, with Auto Direct. I have recently left the Royal Marines at roughly the same time as my car 'died'. I have purchased another fiesta (off a friend-was going cheap), with the same engine. I rang up Auto Direct to change the address and car, which has put my premium up to £250 a month for the remainder off my policy. I explained that I physically cannot afford this (I am paying a mortgage/house bills on my own). They said pay it or cancel, and when I went to cancel they said my cancellation fee is £397, which I also cannot physically afford. I personally think this is a disgraceful way to rip me off. Is there anything I can do to counter this? Or is once again the little man getting bent over by the big corporation?

Well done on serving your country and for getting your green beret
How long is left on your policy and do you know how many instalments are left.0 -
"Can't pay" is neither here nor there...you you can't pay you'll have to deal with their debt collection system.
If you post more details...premium, method of payment, renewal date etc then the helpful folk on here will tell you if the charges are fair
In the mean time, run a couple of dummy quotes and see what the difference is between your two addresses0
