Impossible to answer without knowing how the property is heated and hot watered (is it E7 with storage heaters and an immersion heater, or something else)?
There is no 'best' supplier-if there was we'd all be using them. It depends on region and kWh consumption.
You will be in a deemed contract with the existing supplier from day one, so you can't switch until you have registered with them for an account and supplied opening readings-do this on your first day. A switch will then take 4-5 weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If its not too late find a place which has Gas Central Heating.
Electricity is one of the most expensive forms of heating, with standard unit rates of around 12p / kwh which is almost three times the cost of gas which can be found from some suppliers at 4p / kwh. Even Economy 7 is now slowly losing its advantage with most E7 off peak rates now hovering at between 6p and 7p per kw/h
In other words if you have standard, non Economy 7 Electricity in this flat, it will cost you anywhere between 2 to 3 times the cost of a similar sized property which is heated by Gas, so if you have time to back out and find somewhere else, then do it, especially if you are intending to live there for several years."Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0
