Disasters/Scam Relating to 2nd Hand Purchases from People not Companies.

Hello All, I've been actively reading around the forum for the last 3 years and only posted one question once since being able to find the answers to everything else until now.

I'd like to highlight the problems I've had to warn others about falling in to the same trap and I was wondering if you could advise what I'm allowed and not allowed to do.

In short, I bought something off someone from another forum (I doubt the user is here) and I've done all I can to resolve the issue without success.

1) Is this the correct section to post a write up about being scammed by somebody (not a company)?
2) Will I face prosecution for revealing all his details here? How much personal information is allowed before I could expect getting in trouble with the law?

Many thanks for the responses in advanced. I've conceded that I will never get my money back so I'm not expecting any suggestions for things to try.

You will not face prosecution, assuming all that you write is true, however I doubt the forum team would allow you to do so - posts revealing personal information tend to be deleted.

If you need advice you could post your problem without giving personal information?
  • I think the admin would take any personal information out (and rightly so).

How would you feel if they published your information?

Thank you but I don't need advice on how to resolve the situation. This is more in the case of warning others to avoid what happened to me.

Point taken but if I'd done something unethical as the person I intend to expose then I'd deserve to be uncovered.

In short, I paid somebody a lot of money for something back in January and all was going ok'ish until March. I sent e-mail requests for updates once a month and by October he still didn't post it. In November I exposed him on the forum I met him on and he eventually posted it. When they finally arrived, they were broken and he refused to pay me back.

I'm a very patient and empathetic person and have conceded that I will never get my money back, so... do you still think I'm being immoral?

The problem with things like this is that if you post details we will all only have your side of the story (which I am sure you feel is the only one we need). What do you hope to achieve by posting details here? You have already said they are unlikely to be on here, so why do we need to know?
