All my other lovely seeds are sprouting but my cornflower seeds are being very stubborn! Anyone any experience or are they particularly lazy seeds?

this won't be any help to you but any time I've sown these they've come up like weeds!
Are they old seed perhaps?Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Like nodwah, I've not really had any problem germinating cornflower. They usually take about a week to a fortnight. Did you sow them straight in the ground or under glass?A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0

nope,a brand new pack - very frustrating.
I'll give them with another couple of weeks and if they refuse to raise their little green heads, they are for the compost bin!0 -

I have never had any problems with cornflower seed, my garden soil is very poor. I usualy sown them in a container, they are very easy to germinate. I usually grow the dwarf ones, they are the only plants that seem to thrive in my garden.0

right, that's it then - enough of the posh John Innes special potting compost, they are obviously common seeds so Homebase own it is for my next lot!
I have now got to dispose of them while my boyfriend is out otherwise he accuses me of being impatient and murderous

If it makes you feel any better - you are not alone!
I have never managed to grow courgettes or pumpkins and everyone says you can grow them blindfolded with one arm tied behind your back.
Sometimes it helps to put seeds in the fridge for a week or two before sowing so they get an artificial winter - I always do this with Busy Lizzie seeds.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
