ppi on gregory pennington help

hi all, i wonder if you could offer some advice. i was a greg pennington customer a very long time ago, maybe 7 or 8 years ago. i have no paperwork left, so no customer numbers. i remember having to pay ppi. is it possible for me to reclaim with only my name and address after all this time?

also, ive now gone to CCCS to deaL with my debts. and my barclays bank loan has been put onto this aswell, they have since closed my account as i went behind on my payments. is it possible i could reclaim on my bank account, even though they have closed it and its on debt management with cccs? would they credit the loan if successful? its around £4000 to pay back.

many thanks

They are a debt management company, are you sure you were paying PPI?

You can try to complain about the bank loan, yes, and they probably will use it against the outstanding debt.

  • Hi Struggles, I had PPI with GP, the FOS are chasing Sterling Insurance, who are the underwriters.
To date Sterling has admitted liability, the only thing is that it is taking a long with the FOS.
I suggest you put a claim in with the FOS and try and get your details from GP.
  • I have also put a claim through with sterling insurance as they were the underwriters of the ppi to Greg pen! I emailed GP to claim the money but the just fobbed me off to the fos! Now the fos have now wrote direct to sterling! Waiting to see what happens! I cannot believe GP are getting away with conning so many people! Adding ppi was discraceful and should have been an option for the customer and not just added to someone's monthly charges especially when they are in debt!
How many others have they conned!
  • Hi,
I am too trying to reclaim my mis-sold PPI from GP and have had a response from the FOS today saying that they have written to Sterling Insurance.
I am just so annoyed at GP as you seem to be, how could they just add this pointless insurance to people already struggling. Useless they are!!!
Please keep me updated on your case and I'll do the same.
  • Did you every get a reply and how do you contact the financial ombudsman?

    Thanks
  • Hi guys, I'm just new to the forum although I've been a lurker for quite a while.

I have just got my settlement letter from GP with no problems along the way! I got the offer 1 day before the 8 weeks were up.

Initially I contacted GP with just my old account number by phone and they said they would investigate. Along the way I was contacted twice by phone for more details and a couple of letters keeping me informed of their progress.

I was with GP for 6 years and I settled for £5,808.78 yesterday which should be sent using BACS in the next 7-10 working days.

All in all a very good service, compared to others

Hi Newbie here looking for some advice on the above subject!
Myself and husband took out a DMP with Greggory Pennington in 2008 over five years. The debt is now paid off, my query is can I claim back the PPI made to Sterling Insurance?? I have the welcome pack and statements which show the payments to Sterling Insurance.
Do I have a claim and what is the best way to go about it? any advice/info would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hi, when we started up the program it was 'highly recommended' to take the PPI and our finances were in such a dire state ( pleased to say they are much healthier now) that I felt if I said no then GP would not help us. Also as Ive been going through old folders etc and came across these old statements and letters, one letter details our expenditure and the management fee is on the list, the PPI however, is not. Another thing that has me wondering is that when we started the program in 2008 the PPI payment to SI was £15 a month. In 2009 this payment went up to £18.75 a month when we increased our monthly payment. I can not for the life of me say that we were notified of this increase, nor can I find any letter which states this increase. I may just be shooting for the sky here!
    Thanks
  • Hi All,
Any further updates regarding PPI through GP's?
