cross beams in attic

Hi
I have two beams which cross each other going from side of the attic. They cross in the center.
Does anyone know if i can simly cut them out ?

If they cross from ceiling to floor then I suspect these are roof trusses.
If so i would leave them well alone unless you want the roof to cave in !0 -
I think you could safely assume that they were put there for a reason. The two sides of the roof do need tying together otherwise they'd just attempt to fall flat, which would be a bit of a problem for the walls!
Don't do anything without consulting a structural engineer first.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
