Brent council residents parking

Where we live is covered by one of Brent councils residents parking schemes which in a nutshell means I've got to pay £50 a year to park outside my front door (even though it doesn't guarantee a parking space)
We also have a free permit for any visitors but it only covers them from 6pm-8.30am Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.
If we have visitors outside of those times they have to use of of the standard visitors permit which we buy from the council at £5 for a book of 10 ...or so I thought.
I went for a book a coule of days ago only to be told they have doubled in price to £10 on April 1st.

There's also a new scheme for Wembley stadium event days which allows us to park around Brent on event days.
They automatically sent these out (free of charge) to residents who had parking permits and sent me one for a car I sold 18 months ago .
I phoned and was told to write in with proof of ownership and address and surrender the incorrect permit which I did.

I got a letter on Friday informing me that it wasn't possible to process the application any further without the correct fee of £10. Oh and bear in mind that there's an event on at the stadium on the 28th and without the permit I stand a pretty good chance of getting ticketed outside my house despite the fact I also have a residents permit.
When I phoned I was told that it must have been my fault for not informing them I had changed my car so I asked if she honestly thought I would have got away with parking without a valid permit for 18 months lol most people don't get away with any more than an hour without getting a ticket.

Anyway long story short, I did (I hope) eventually get it sorted and the new permit will be with me this week before the next event.

No real reason for posting this apart from the rant really but it seems to me that Brent council (and others I'm sure) seem to be looking for more and more ways of screwing money out of us for parking and there's nuffink we can do about it
