Anodised saucepans & induction hobs

A few months ago I bought a hard anodised pan set from Asda (great value and fab saucepans). However, I'm moving house in a few months, and the house we're moving to has an induction hob.
I've not got my original box, but a search online suggests that usually anodised saucepans are not suitable for induction hobs. Is this always the case? Is there a reason why they're not suitable?
Couldn't I just use them anyway or would I destroy my pans??

Get a magnet if it sticks to the bottom of the pans they will work OK no problems if it does not stick then they will not work and maybe damage the induction hob.
Dead easy fix0 -
Hmpf, the magnet test shows that my pans aren't suitable, grr.
What about a ceramic hob - is that the same as induction or different? (as you can tell this is the first time I've ever had to use a new hob that's not been gas!)0 -
Be careful of aluminium pans on ceramic hobs. Our Zanussi specifically warns not to use aluminium or blend as it will cause damage. Turned out to be true as I didn't realise one of our pans had aluminium in the base and it has left mark on hob (very slowly fading now but told it will never completely disappear). Pan was an expensive one we bought some time ago, so I thought it would be OK. All pans we use now have stainless steel bases.
However have heard from friends that they can use aluminium based pans with no trouble on their hobs, so it may just be some makes of hob.0
