I have a couple of good plants under net and have picked some sprouts lower down, Remaining sprouts are a good size and very nice and firm. How well do brussels stand through frost? Am I right in thinking that a couple of nights of -6 will be ok, it will be cold but dry during the day. I am not expecting more than two or three nights at this temperature. I know that a long deep freeze would be a different matter

Brussels are improved a great deal by frost and they can be ovewrwintered. I would expect them to be fine but someone more knowledgable (and who can spell!) may come along and correct me...0

soilsister is right, unless you experience exceptionally severe frosts over a very long period there should be no problems. Keep picking from the bottom up, and once they have all been used for an extra meal just cut off the tops and cook as cabbage.0

On a recent Radio Leeds gardening programme, it was suggested that if your sprouts are a bit small, nipping the top off the plant helps to make them bulk up.0

I always understood that sprouts needed a good frost, they're supposed to taste better afterwards. Hate bitter-tasting sprouts!0
