The problem with Shearings is:

a) you've gotta be quick to get the price advertised
b) you may not appreciate the company unless you're retired yourself and reasonably sociable - it's not for the adventurous / independent traveller

a) That's what this forum is all about - MSE!

b) Me (59) and the Mrs (55) are off to Thailand and Cambodia in February for 6 weeks of independent travel. Flights booked, and the first 3 nights accommodation too. The rest is as it happens.

A cheap week in UK is just a filler for us.;)

Going on another Shearings tomorrow from Pompey to Scarborough.

£119 each, which includes...

- Return coach travel.
- 4 nights Dinner, bed & breakfast.
- 2 trips, one to York, and the other to Whitby.
- Evening entertainment (no bingo please:)).
- 4 drinks vouchers per person per day. A drinks voucher = a pint or short & mixer. So that's 16 pints for me.

A month ago we did a similar deal to St Mawes. £99 each, but instead of the drinks vouchers we got a £50 bar credit per couple.

Shearings Breaks are great for filling in time between major holidays. Yep, it's mainly older folk. Avoid the ones who only want to talk about their ailments though.:)
