WARNING - Roku LT - Outputs in NTSC, useless on older TVs

Hi,
I've just raced home to try my new Roku LT out.
However its in black and white. After further research, it turns out the UK units output NTSC not PAL so using the composite cable doesn't work!
I have tried my friends TV, and yes it does work fine via HDMI. I have tried several factory resets etc but to no joy.
I admit my TV (Panasonic TX21V2) is 10 years old and doesn't have HDMI, but according to the ROKU website:
Does the Roku player support my TV?
Yes. All Roku 2 players support both standard definition TVs using composite A/V and HD TVs using HDMI.
Note: Connecting to a standard definition TV requires a custom composite A/V cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end. This cable is included with your Roku 2 player.
So I can't find anywhere on the website warning me of this PAL/NTSC issue?
Of course I know I should have a better TV but thats not the point, and I imagine the majority of customers are connecting via HDMI.
Ironically I will probably upgrade to a Smart TV, thus rendering the Roku obsolete!

Are you sure its a UK unit and not a US Grey import with the plug swopped over?
If you got it cheap more than likely its a import.0 -
Looking at the site looks like they are all imports. So there is your problem0

Take it back, not as described, money back. Maplin are generally good about this short of stuff.0

eBuyer have a few similar units and work very well0 -
Thanks for providing the warning.
It may save someone else a couple of wasted journeys and some disappointment. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
As for the EU in the model number, I fell for that on one of my WD units. I bought it from Lambdatek, Mine had a European plug so just got a converter (Lambdatek refunded without quibble) never had another issue.
Thinking about it, could it be the composite be set for EU not UK spec?0
