Please be gentle! I'm not very techie and have just bought my completely technophobic missus a Samsung tablet at her request. I've had conflicting views as to whether we need to be running anti-virus or other security and would welcome some clear advice and suggestions as to what, if anything, to use. She mainly does browsing, emails, a bit of research; so far not interested in downloading music, movies etc. Our other laptops and pc are all running MSE.
Thanks in advance for any help and expertise.

By default it can only access apps from google play and Samsung stores. The Samsung one is a bit pony, so just use google play. If she sticks to the '... Recommends' apps and games etc she will have a simple and pleasant experience until she feels a bit more adventurous, but pretty much all the standard things to do have great very popular apps which will become apparent pretty quickly. The odds of getting any malware are currently near zero if you stick with google play to download them. And by default you can't install dodgy apps from dodgy websites! I have had android since the first phone came out, never had any virus trouble.
Google play also provides movies and music which you can download or rent, all integrated, all easy, although the selection of films is pretty poor at the moment, reminds me of a village video rental shop in the 1980's0 -
Thanks. That's most reassuring.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0
