True. On one side they are competing. On the other, they know sales over december will be up. In January, they will know sales volumes will be greatly down, and wish to tempt people to the shops in the sales. They will also use the sales to clear any old lines of stock, to make room for newer 2013 models.
Difficult to decide- my advice would be- find the model you are interested in, google to get some historical/current prices and judge for yourself if you deem it to be a "good deal". If you are visiting a high street retailer, as it is a high priced good, ask them do they know if it will be cheaper in the sales/if there is a 30 day return etc etc.0 -
Thanks for the reply, it is proving to be a dilemma!
Thing is, Im buying my son one and my partner is getting me one so its a case of 'shall we try for discount for buying 2 as well'.
Christmas - bah humbug!0 -

Apart from any delayed laptops there won't be a 2013 refresh until April or March as that's when the new Intel i series is due, no manager or customer advisor will be able to say if a model is going to be cheaper in the sales as that's usually the exact pricing is released to Regional/Divisional Managers, then a few days before Christmas is it released to the GM's/AM's, Of course the people you talk to in store should have a pretty good idea which ones will be promoted as they should have mysteriously gotten 5 times the usual laptop amount on their deliveries but exactly how much is a fools game to guestimate.0 -
An option might be to buy online close to Christmas, so that delivery won't be until after Christmas, and don't touch it - you then have 7 days to return it under DSRs for a full refund if you discover better bargains available in the sales.0

I would suggest buying before Christmas as you will be getting the most up to date models at prices to entice you to buy. After Christmas they are trying to get rid of older stock so the "deals" are not as good0
