House deeds

My father died a few years ago but his name is still on the house deeds. There is no mortgage on the house and my mother still lives there. Is it a simple process to get his name removed?

You can do it via the Land Registry, quite straightforward.
We had the same situation a few years ago - a solicitor advised to just leave it .... and that there was no need to change the deeds until such time as the house was to be sold.0 -
Have a look at this thread - especially post #4, about Land Registry public guide 9:

You need to file and E-DJP form with the Land Registry. There is no cost for doing so. They probably will need a death certificate confirming the date.
Straight forward, and makes it easier when your mum comes to sell, no need to provide Grants of Probate or Death Certs then.

demented_weasel has kindly posted the link to a previous thread and the Public Guide
You need to confirm that the property is in England & Wales, is registered and whether it was in joint names or just your late Father's. Once you have checked those details simply find the relevant section of the guide which applies to your circumstances.
If easier then just post those answers here and we can advise further or you can Contact Us directly by email/phone to discuss
If the property is registered in England & Wales and it was held in joint names then form DJP is the correct form to use, as Mrs.Downie states“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues.
