Next, Evening Deliveries and DHL

I'm sure that couriers and supermarket delivery drivers think people are thick.
A few weeks ago I ordered stuff from Next and asked for evening delivery to ensure I would be in. In addition I know my neighbour opposite me would be in that evening so they would have no problems delivering the items.
The delivery was suppose to be between 6pm and 9.30pm so at 9.40pm when no-one had turned up I phoned up Next and was put through to their "delivery department".
The lady on the other end of the phone said I hadn't left enough time and it would turn up that night. I phoned back up at 10.10pm to find the "delivery department" closed.
The following day I got a phone call from Next and they said that their delivery department was run by DHL. The DHL driver claimed they couldn't find my address and my parcel would be delivered that evening. They then started saying my property must be new. I pointed out that:
1. The flats has been there for 60 years
2. The postcode was only for those flats and no other property, and due to there being a side road at either side of the flats you can't mistake them for anywhere else. Plus there is a school opposite.
3. One of my neighbours gets deliveries from couriers including DHL every day. As I've often signed from them when I was in.
When the delivery driver turned up that night I asked him did they all use sat navs to which he replied "Yes".
I then emailed Next I wouldn't be ordering from them again due to their couriers' deliberate misinformation. If they are going to lie about deliveries they should say the driver was sick rather than say they can't find a property.
Oh and Tescos has tried that trick on me but oddly every other supermarket had no problem.

Sat navs will not always find a property even an old property0

Exactly, I lived somewhere that any brand of sat nav could find my address except tom tom, which would direct people about 2 miles away when using the postcode. My house was about 100 years old, not a new build. The postcode covered 5 houses.0 -

That's not the point.
If delivery companies are going to be both incompetent and mendacious the more people who tell the companies that employ them that they will no longer deal with them the more likely it is that something will be done - one way or another.
It's the dumb, lazy, types that do nothing that encourage companies to adopt a 'couldn't care less' approach to customer service. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
They use a courier for the cost per parcel they get charged not customer satisfaction.
Customers won't pay more than is required for delivery, mainly fueled by this site so the likes of Yodel & Hermes will thrive because people demand free or cheap delivery. and expect UPS/FEDEX service at Yodel prices0 -

I don't think you're thinking this through.
Yes, they are using a cheap service but that in no way means that customers should be lied to. It has happened that companies have switched couriers because of customer complaints.
You seem to think that just because a company offers a cheap service they don't, or shouldn't need to, care how badly they perform. Fortunately this is not universally the case and, eventually, companies with the attitude that you seem to think people should accept get weeded out. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
