Un encryption help needed

I've received a word doc that is encrypted (.docx)

When I try and open it an unencryption box pops upand asks for a password. It is Acer decryption software, but I have never set a password for this.

It also says I can use an admin password, however I don't have one.

How can I open the document, is there any way to find a password or use free encryption software.

Are you sure that it is encrypted or are you basing the assumption on the extension .docx and ACer encryption triggering when you double click on it?

A .docx file means that it has been produced using Office 2007 -2010. If you have Office 2003 installed then you can download a compatibility pack from the MS site to allow you to read .docx files

When I click on open I get a pop up box from Acer eDataSecurity management asking for a password, I have never set a password for this.

I have saved the document and it shows as encrypted and have tried opening it in other programmes without success.

I don't know which version of office I have installed.

I think it only shows as encrypted because eDatasecurity has registered docx as an encrypted document extension.

Can I suggest unstalling either Open Office or Libraoffice as these can open .docx files produced by Word.
