    In which case I would be inclined to take them up on their 'no quibble' refund guarantee and start again elsewhere.

    I thought of that and that's were the "we'll have to remove the lenses" came into it. Thanks though.

    Did they offer your old lenses back at the time? As they were your property, they shouldn't have just binned them without your say so.

    No they didn't. I went in today and told them I thought the whole idea of removing the lenses was ridiculous, they agreed that it was and promptly gave me a full refund of £69 and let me keep the lenses. A good outcome in the end. Thanks.
