Advice needed re: British Gas Homecare

Aye I thought the same when I heard the words powerflush..
Thing is allegedly (I can't verify it though) if I (well the landlord) did get it done by an independent who would charge much less, British Gas WON'T install a new boiler as they 'can't' guarantee the work has been done to there standards..
Also I don't know if you'll agree but to get a brand new boiler (as I said BG said it would be a good one) and to do the powerflush, £600-£700 isn't that bad is it?
I don't know how much independents charge to fit a new boiler though but i'd assume for the powerflush, paying for a new boiler and them fitting it you'd be talking more than £600-£700 wouldn't you?0 -
you are not going to get a powerflush & a boiler fitted for £600-£700 from anyone let alone BG you are mis reading the fiqures, i would say that is just for the powerflush, BG don't normally fit good boilers (cheap but not normally good)I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Southcoastrgi I don't know you right so don't take offence to what i'm telling you right now.
You say I wouldn't get a powerflush and a new boiler installed from BG right, well you tell me how 2 BG engineers were stood in front of me today and straight up told me that my landlord (if he chose that route) would have to pay £600-£700 for a powerflush and then they would put a new GOOD boiler on under the homecare agreement, so how the hell am I mis-reading the figures....
The bit that says if the boiler is under 7 years old then they would replace it if they can't repair it!
End of the day they've been instructed by managers that they're to fix the problem once and for all (as they've been called back to the same fault 6 times) and that they are to install a decent boiler if my landlord agrees to pay the £600-£700 for the powerflush.
I'm not making this sh*t up! It's straight up what I was told, I even rang British Gas to verify it! And I swear the name Worcerter Bosch WAS banded about!
You might have no faith and be very cynical, but I can only go on what I was told.0 -
[I had my Optimax boiler installed by my Corgi Registered plumber 4 years ago, which came with a 5 year warranty. Within 6 months it broke down on us and the after care service was diabolical and the warranty was not worth the paper it was written on. In fact toilet paper would have had more use. As a result of my horrid time and dealing with very dim, obstructive, rude, arrogant and unprofessional managers at this joke of a company, I have had my service agreement with British Gas. In the 4 years of me being with British Gas looking after my boiler, they have been out to my property at least 15-20 times. Each engineer that comes out to our property have always said that Ferroli make the worst boilers ever and are a laughing stock in that industry.
To put it simply I WILL NEVER EVER EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING AGAIN THAT IS OWNED BY OR MADE BY FERROLI AND I ADVISE THE SAME TO ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE AS WELL!!!!0 -
Sounds pretty unlucky, is it giving you a fault code?. You could insist bg arrange a maufacturer visit paid for by them. It would mean no waiting for parts hopefully.0
