Confused re. Psp vita - wifi and 3g

Hi i am think about getting my teen a psp vita for xmas and don't know which one to get him....i think he'll be playing it at home on our wifi network but not sure what the 3g version does....do i have to buy a sim card to put in it and load it up with credit or pay monthly....tesco have a COD package for around £200...can anyone think of one cheaper anywhere thanks in advance

    Yes, if you get the 3G version you will have to have to pay a monthly fee for the service. I would personally just suggest the wi-fi model.

    I think Amazon have the same deal for £189. So probably worth checking there :-)

  • Just cos it has 3g doesnt mean you have to pay for it - it will still work off WiFi should you wish.

    What 3g means, is that he can use it for Online stuff outside of free Wifi areas - so outside you house and free hotspot areas. Inside those areas just use Wifi. Also if your not using online things - ie just playing a solo game, you dont need any wireless connection at all.

    to top it off - if he has a phone with 3g, he can make that a "hotspot" and piggyback the Vita from his phone - of course hell need to pay for the data on the phone, but if theres a decent ammount included and he doesnt use it much outside a Wifi zone hell be fine.
