Whatcan I do: foxes / dogs using my lawn as a loo?

Hi All
I'll be careful how I word this. Recently I've noticed piles of poo in my garden. I'm not sure if it's foxes or my neighbours dogs. I know foxes tend to leave dark droppings but this isn't. I'm worried that my neighbour (who has a problem with me living here) is encouraging his dog to do it - it looks more like dog mess.
Anyway if foxes are the culprits are there any ways of deterring them from my garden? (any household products / cleaners etc) I can't put up a fence and def don't want to use poison.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If it is foxes then you'll prob see strands of hair/fur in the deposits. Maybe rule them out first then get a camera and take photos of the culprit. Sounds like its a neighbour problem rather than the dog, IYSWIM

Fox turds may also have large seeds in them. I thought a large turd was dog, given the smell, but the seeds indicated fox. It smelt like dog. Leave them alone to rot, and you will see better what is in them.

You think the neighbour is leaving his turds?

Sounds like he might be, if he's hirsute and a vegetarian. I hear they are everywhere these days.

If you have an Asian food sore near you buy a bag of their cheapest hot chilli powder and sprinkle freely round your garden - being careful not to get a face full yourself.

If you have an outdoor socket, or one in the house close to the garden, buy one of those ultrasonic gadgets and observe from an upstairs window with glee as the dog poops in his own yard instead of yours. Be friendly to your neighbour and buy him a pooper scooper for Christmas. He'll need it to clean up his own dirty backyard.

But ensuring you cause as much unnecessary suffering to whichever poor animal comes into contact with it!

To deter rather than injure the animal, if it's a fox, try spreading human hair - from your hairbrush or family members hairbrush or use a citrus scent. Orange peel is great as dogs and cats dislike citrus and will avoid if they can.

Hi, not sure if any help, but when our dog was a puppy we were advised to put clove oil on the legs of our furniture to deter him from chewing. They don't like the smell or taste. Probably not a lot of use in the outdoors but you may be able to put some on a fence/gate post etc. Good luck
