I really wouldn't worry a great deal myself. Ford engines are known to be pretty solid like volvo engines. I personally think you're panicking a bit too much but in fairness to you I suppose at least finding out if its a major or minor thing won't hurt!
If it's a minor thing don't worry about it too much though eh? - No point wasting too much of your money on something that isn't a big problem! I've been there and done that.. ended up skint for it!0 -
Have you actually had it confirmed by some one that the eml light has been removed? Speedo units nowadays are usally sealed units and the lights are LEDs sholdered onto the board.0

The EML should always come on when the key is turned to indicate that it works, along with the other warning lights.
Unfortunately, if and when the new MOT is introduced, lack of correctly working warning lights will be a failure.
Though the basic engine might be robust it still does suffer from expensive fuel pump and injector failures and the habit of chewing through the dual mass flywheel.0 -
They WERE known to be solid and reliable, up until the Mk4 mondeo and new era diesels, which have a number of pricey things that can go wrong.TrickyWicky wrote: »I really wouldn't worry a great deal myself. I think the OP should get proof the engine management light has been pulled, and go back to the dealer with the evidence and of the ECU codes and demand the problem be fixed on pain of going to trading standards. It's sharp practice.0 -

Are you serious.....Mondeo TDCi's are notorious for being carp. Quite a few are being scrapped because they are just so expensive to fix0
