backpay following successful esa appeal

I recently successfully appealed an ESA decision to place me in WRAG group and have been placed now in the support group...

does anyone know how long it will take the DWP to send me the money thats outstanding?

To most people it wouldnt be a fortune but it will make a big difference to me. I did ring to ask but was just told it would be paid "in due course"!

It will take at least several weeks.
I believe it may take longer - months - if they appeal the decision on a matter of law.

Once you are paid, make sure you're paid the enhanced disability premium - if you're under pension credit age.
This should be included in the backpayment.

  • I've just posted a similar question that I'd like RB to have a look at:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4336011
  • i won my tribunial on 6th november, and on tuesday dec 11th? i took my decision notice to my local jcp to be scanned and sent as the three appeal decision letters from the tribunial centre all went missing on route to them! i got a much welcome call last night to say the arrears are now clearing in the bank.
so if when you say you won an appeal you mean tribunial you could speed up the process by taking the award letter to the local jcp s itl get there much faster that way!

    Excellent advice, and it does.

I thought the whole point of RM doing it was that they scanned the mail for ATOS?

    HiYa custardy,

    - no idea where you got 'scanned' from M8
    - they intercept, re-sort and repost

That puts a whole new layer of complexity into any hub operation, possibly necessary in terms of the general public sticking a brown envelope in the mouth of any one of the 45,829 postboxes in the UK.

My point was direct A to b bulk in big sacks, with a receipt if possible date-stamped from the JC+ has got to be a quicker / safer route.

Where did I get it from?
Sending ATOS mail to the scanning unit at Edinburgh MC
The 'reposting' you refer to,is putting all the paper copies in a direct bag and sending them SD to the very same ATOS building the next day

Could I enquire what enhanced disability premium is? Is it paid automatically if in support group? I have just won my tribunal, from Wrag to Support group and I get DLA low care. Would I be entitled to the enhanced disability premium?
I'm contribution based ESA by the way, not Income based, if it makes a difference
