I managed to get a load of the tubs at my local Asda a few weeks ago, going for the price of 35p. Seem to only sell the sachets now but hopefully the tubs will return before I run out of my stash.

As for them saying Gluten Free, it doesnt make a difference in baking. I have to eat Gluten Free so I buy it, but my hubby doesnt and all of his cakes turn out fine.
  • I get mine from Lidl or Aldi as they've both started stocking it and its cheaper than the supermarket.

It's a mixture of citric acid and baking powder, great for creating effervescence. I've just wiki'd it, and unfortunately it's been pulled from the UK market :(

If you find American baking soda anywhere that's a raising agent and supposedly 4 times as strong as baking powder.
  • Lidl have tubs for around 70p
