taxing second hand car from dealer??

Options
I have just bought a car from a dealer. I am using mine as part exchange.

my car has 1 year tax on it - do I declare it SORN once i have taken it to the dealer, surely I do not leave the tax on it??
THe new car has no tax -if I do it online how do I get the disc?? Am i able to drive it straight away once paid online.
I know these seem like silly questions but I am not from this country and my last car was brand new.
Fortunately I can work out the insurance!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Your registration document will tell you what to do with the paperwork to keep you legal, once you've sold/transfered ownership, you don't SORN it, though.

Has the dealer mentioned the tax on your current car? He MIGHT have valued it with it, or without it. You can get a surrender form from Post Office, to send it back, for a partial refund.

You'll need to clarify if there is any tax on the new car properly, before re taxing it. On line seems to be a bit of a problem for some people, so ask the dealer!
