  • I had mine removed by keyhole about 18 months ago.

I was so nervous on the morning, but I had my Mum with me and she had gone through it the previous year, and luckily I was the first one to go in out of all the people waiting for day surgery.

When I came round the offered me toast- personally if your offered this you may want to ask what else they have- I found it so hard to eat as it was dry and made me want to cough- but that hurt as my stomach was so bruised, they then offered me jelly and that was fine!!:rotfl:. Also I would have been able to go home about 2pm but they wouldnt let me go until I have been for a wee so I was eventually allowed home about 3.30 I think.

You may feel bloated and sore (a bit battered and bruised) but they will give you painkillers for this, and dont push yourself- I left driving for as long as I could (I just used it as an excuse for my hubby to drive me round!!:rotfl:)

Everyone has slightly different experiences- but overall the experience of gall bladder removal does seem painful but worth it.

Oh and one more thing- make sure you have plenty of magazines/ books to read or dvds to watch.
