I used to make my own museli too - and DD age 3 used to love it!
I used to have a handful of oats, and a handful of crushed Oat and Wheat flakes (Sainsburys own). Then some raisins, or cranberries or chocolate chips (ooops!) or whatever other dried fruit I had.
I started making my own because I don't like nuts and most of the museli's have nuts in. Mind you apparently in Holland and Barrett they have a museli base without nuts that you can buy.

IF you shop online you might find this useful :
Tesco's are doing a promotion on some cereals at the moment online.
You buy 4 boxes of cereals out of a choice of five (includes shreddies & mini shredded wheat) & you get £4 off !!! :j0 -
When I am low on milk and don't want to add sugar/sweeetner, I put apple or pineapple juice in with the oats and microwave like I would porridge - it is lovely.
Top with single cream if you want a treat or Greek yoghurt (nice and thick)
When the alcoholic creams come out at Christmas, I make the porridge in the microwave with either milk or water and add a scoop of the cream when it is ready - whisky, brandy or Cointreau are yummy! An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

My muesli recipes
I don't measure, I make so it look in proportion and what I fancy that week.
Oats, large - smaller ones are better for porridge
Bran Flakes
Weetaflakes with or without extras
Almonds, flakes, whole or ground
Chopped hazelnuts or whole
Sunflower seeds
Linseeds
Pumpkin seeds
Crushed pecans
Dried mixed fruit - your choice
Apricots - dried
Sultanas
or mixing two types of mueslis - fruity with ordinary. I like to put apple juice in the night before to soften for breakfast - Bircher Muesli style. Served with Greek yoghurt (natural) or cream if I feel indulgent.
I tend to put a handful of whatever cereal is lying around to make it more interesting (again in proportion)
Just Right is good, Rice Krispies, Cornflakes, Multigrain Rice Krispies (loops)
There are no hard and fast rules and it is easily made to taste
I don't like coconut or chocolate for breakfast but love it at any other time of day.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:
