Asda home deliveries

A couple of weeks ago, I shopped with Asda online and she shopping slot was between 8-10pm.

I shop online with both Tesco and Asda- Tesco for the main big shop and the points and sometimes with Asda for a big shop and because they have some items that Tesco dont.

I was looking out the window like a dog missing its owners and there was no sign of the Asda shopping. I then called them after the time slot and they said they would contact the store. They also told me at the contact centre that deliveries were late because of someone pulling a sickie! (It would have been nice to have had a courtesy call beforehand!) I did not get the shopping until after 1am that night!

The delivery guy was lovely though. However, I wrote a letter of complaint and they did not even bother to acknowledge and respond to the complaint - that was about a month ago. They have been late/not delivered at all about three times. I have since taken my custom elsewhere.

I now shop with Tesco, I like them, they text me and say that my shopping will be delivered between a certain hour of a 2 two hour slot.

Angry beyond reason! Booked an Xmas home delivery slot for my food shopping approx 3 weeks ago. I contacted Asda customer services and ON THEIR INSTRUCTION placed a minimum order to secure said slot - being advised to add the rest of the shop to the order a few days before the scheduled delivery. Tried to do this 4 days ago and their Website told me I had an invalid order ID - even though it was showing as a current order on the same page!

Contacted customer services again who told me that there was a "glitch" on their system and that I had to delete my recent browser history and cookies at which point I could then amend my order after 24 hours.

Tried again after the required time lapse and again the same error came up. Yet another call to customer services who this time told me that I would be unable to amend the initial order so near to Xmas(!!!) and did I want to carry on with the 3 ITEM original order at a delivery cost of £5.75. At this point I regret to say that my patience wore very thin and I advised the call taker that I wished to speak to a Supervisor as this was clearly not acceptable. Unsurprisingly no one was available so to avoid any further angst on my part I hung up whilst on hold.

Today I decided to do battle yet again as my deadline to amending my order (I wish) was getting ever nearer. Another voice in this farcical organisation informed me that now the order cannot be updated AS THE DELIVERY VANS ARE BEING OVERLOADED AND THE DRIVERS UNABLE TO COPE!!!! Having nearly choked on my own disbelief I again asked to speak with a manager. After some time I was connected to a person with this title who backed up not only one but all 3 excuses. Furthermore, he advised that the Asda website cannot cope and that he felt embarrassed at what he was having to advise me. So - I now have a useless delivery slot that I am being charged for and have to try and get to a supermarket to do said shop manually - and all because I followed their instructions 3 weeks ago when I asked for their help.

I should point out that at present I am not able to drive at all or walk far due to a serious medical condition. When advised of this the "manager" suggested I get a friend to do my shopping for me despite me trying to point out this was the whole reason for doing an online shop in the first place. He then offered me free delivery off my next shop!!!! by way of compensation and ended my call by asking "if there was anything else he could help me with?"...

This is a brief synopsis of 4 days of incredible frustration and anger on my part. At the busiest and most profitable time of year for the large Supermarkets to get this level of service from a company whose employees inform me cannot cope beggars belief to put it mildly. Prior to this debarcle I was a loyal Asda shopper... WAS being the operative word.

I am assuming that I will not be the only customer treated this way over their Xmas food shop. All my calls have been recorded so I fully intend to try and take this higher although I suspect I will be wasting my time. Happy Xmas Asda - NOT.
