Post office inconsistant service

I went to my usual PO and no parking spaces (what a nightmare carpark), so was forced to go to the PO I detest. I had a larger item I knew would be just over the 1KG and the post mistress said "1st or 2nd class" I said to her, "can it go as 2nd then?" she nodded, then stuck on a Standard Parcel sticker - I told her SP was not 2nd class, but she assured me it was and also got very annoyed with me when I made her change it to 1st!
I've had a few bad experiences with SP lately and prefer not to send items that way.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -

40% of my standard parcels went astray a few years ago.Thats when i switched to collect plus. Its not even that cheap now. Heard it might be getting scrapped. Hopefully, they will raise the weight limit on 2nd.0 -
The only time I had to pay any excess for post was when the machines weren't working and the post office staff put the stamps on in my absence. I'd paid the right amount, they put on stamps for the wrong amount.
Was is normal stamps though - or the big post office stamp from the printer. Guess you won't know.
My PO said they don't pull them with the big stamps on, cos if they did - you could just claim the charges back from the post office for putting the wrong postage on.
My PO does it to keep you coming to them, cos they save you money. But you end up worrying buyer will get charged AND your stars could be trashed for charging double postage.0 -

I would say that regular stamps on post get checked at a higher rate than for printed postage..0 -
A few years ago a parcel I sent from a post office which had one of those big sticky label stamps was deemed insufficient postage and charged the fee. I complained but only got a book of stamps back.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

I received a negative and low stars once for a scarf I sent via the post office that had insufficient postage. Because it was a thin item it went as a large letter and the PO stuck an ordinary stamp on it.
Luckily (or so I thought), I had proof of postage and I made a claim, but surprise, surprise, the claim got lost in the postI must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0
