The laughing was to make it a lighthearted comment. NOT to poke fun at you.

The goods were, according to the postie left on your property. That leaves two options. Either some thieving scumbag has nicked them. Or your posties is a thieving scumbag....

Sorry! This honestly has made me really jittery today, sounds so silly, but I am genuinely upset that people would do this.

The postman I trust implicitly, he's been on this round for a couple of years and is just all round fab. If he'd wanted to take the stuff he could have not left the handwritten note on one of my letters and just had it. I wouldn't have been any the wiser. The poor man hates that I do all my shopping online, lol.

    No need to apoligise.

Its a sad state of affairs when stuff like this happens.
We once had a old 4 foot chimney pot which was used as a flower pot stolen from next to the front door (was cemented in as well) in the middle of the day. What was worse was the Mrs was in and did not notice

I get really annoyed when courier companies or royal mail just leave stuff sitting around. We have had stuff nicked, had loads of stuff rain damaged, or in some cases been left in the bin and taken by the binmen with the rest of the rubbish. My biggest issue is when they leave a box outside the front door. It tells the street 'steal me, oh and the house is empty as well.

Parcel delivery companies are burglars best friends. They just follow them out their yodel compound and drive about until they see them pull up at a house they like and nowone as at the door. Makes their job so much easier.

My advise for OP would have been go back to amazon and sainsburys - say items not received. Ask for replacements to be sent out. Your lucky you only lost some snowboots and not the contents of your house.

Thats why we got cctv - everytime someone knocks on your door whether its to ask if you want windows cleaned, driveway resurfaced, garden work done, carpets washed, to give to their chosen charity, to drop a charity bag through your door etc they are checking your place out.

Go to B&Q and check out the prices of garden pots - some people have hundreds of quids worth of stuff in their front garden that can be had.

Our street has a no cold calling policy and we still get 2 or 3 calls a month. I refer them to the sign and if they go next door I call the police. The police are brilliant and have always arrived very quickly as they usually would like to speak to these cold callers about unregistered charities, or their vehicle, or about other incidents.

The way I see it, up until the item signed for and in my hands. Whether its postie, courier or company who are to blame, they can fight that out between them, in the meantime; Mr Seller, I am still waiting for the items I have proof of having paid for?

Don't you think had the postie nabbed it, he wouldn't have made a note for op... leaving RM none the wiser as to what stage of delivery I went missing.

but just that someone who lives near me would open my gate, take stuff, close up behind them and just walk away.

Last year someone walked onto my property and walked off with a massive old ceramic chimney pot - it had snowed and we could see the footprints! It was huge and heavy - they would have been a right sight heaving it along. The gusto of some people is literally unbelievable!

We also had an attempted break in that destroyed our kitchen window a week later.

Unfortunately the world is full of absolute scumbags with no morals. I now have railings and a baseball bat for the next person that tries something on. I'd love them to.

I'm trained in unarmed combat and also trained to protect myself using various weapons.
If somebody tried to break into my house I would call the police taking them on would be the last resort.
One slip or a brief lapse in concentration and you could end up being severely hurt plus you could also be putting your family in danger.
Is that worth it for garden ornaments.
I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

Maybe thats what the postie wants you to think...... Its the perfect crime.

Postie makes a show of writing out a note for the neighbours or anyone else watching out, wonders down the side of the house with his mailbag, without leaving anything, but as far as the neighbours see he writes out the card, puts it though the letter box, dissepears out of view down the side of the house for a minute and then back onto the round.

If anyone were to question if he left it or not he would just say......

Why would i write a note....... lol

Its called covering your backside. ;)

Given what the OP has said. I doubt it was him, but stranger things have happened.
