don't worry, i have no plans of actually getting into the sea  (it's wet...and things live in it  ).

I just want to find a nice beach to build sandcastles

I'd steer clear of all the well known places then- drive along a coastal road and find somewhere more secluded- there'll still be an ice cream van for the littlies!

I know it's now past but next time try studland - it's near Poole and a beautiful beach with sand dunes etc - very wild and natural (but don;t go to the really natrual part of it where the visitors like to get back to nature ;) )

We visited Camber Sands over the Easter Weekend and it was beautiful, its a long wide SANDY beach with sand dunes to the back of it, ther sea was out (and it was a distance to walk) but the tide came in in the early afternoon but it still left loads of room for sunbathing and building sandcastles.
It is next to the harbour town of Rye and it is well worth a car journey to.
Enjoy:rotfl:  :rotfl:  :rotfl: :T :rotfl:  :rotfl:
