Appletize is another nice non-alcoholic drink, I prefer it to Shloer.

Tesco have no alcoholic koppenberg (both pear and mixed fruit) which I have as except for blue on the label its packaged exactly the same.

Asda - there taste the difference sparkling grape juices are the most winey non-alcoholic versions

Also goodness drinks do none alcoholic cocktails drinks, firefly are also nice unusual soft drinks (keep an eye out for them on offer in the supermarket)

There is also soft brew fruit drinks (Sainsburies and M&S have versions). There basically fruit drinks that have been brewed for a beer like finish but haven't yet developed alcohol.

You also cant beat a nice clear ginger beer with lots of ice and lemon (Crabbies style)
For non-alcoholic larger I recommend Tigers as its the most fool-able.

However try and steer clear from reduced or no alcoholic beers or wines where you can as often the process used to remove the alcohol can include more additives etc.

I'm tried and test at this because of doing a lot of amateur sport I don't drink for months at a time and I miss it lol!

Oh and forgot to add you can non-alcoholic mulled wine (various place have it but spotted it in Ikea). Ikea also used to do non-alcholic pear cider before it came popular.

  • I like shlurr and always drink it out of a wine glass, other than that I have coke over Christmas which I rarely have during the year, normal glass unless everyone's having wine and then I have it in that (always seems nicer as silly as that sounds)

I don't want to sound harsh or step on any toes but most of the suggestions seem to be for "alcohol" substitutes. I don't know why your OH can't/wont be having alcohol but I lived in a household for years where one person couldn't drink alcohol and the last thing wanted was drinks that looked/tasted like alcohol but weren't, it just seemed to be a reminder of a weakness or made the person feel guilty.

Why not just go for soft drinks or basic cordials depending on what your OH likes rather than dressing the drinks up to look like alcohol when they clearly aren't.

Sorry don't want to offend but just thought maybe it would be worth thinking about.

The OP already mentioned alcohol free wine so that doesn't seem to be an issue.

How nice a husband are you! Thank you for being such a thoughtful man!

I can't really help you with non-alcoholic alternatives as I don't actually like the taste of alcoholic drinks except the occasional Bacardi & Coke and I really mean occasional as I've just finished the 1L bottle I bought on a ferry trip to Amsterdam about 7 years ago!
It's usually about now that Shloer is on offer and I get a few bottles in. The offers often work out to be £1 a bottle.

How about non-alcoholic cocktails? They could be fun to make!

I've tried a few different drinks lately due to being pregnant - alcohol free wines I would steer clear of - the only one I've found drinkable (but this is only because I like White Zinfandel which is a sweetish rose wine) is called Fre and is available for around £3 at Asda.
For sparkling I would go for Schloer or something as it's nicer than alcohol free wine! We always get sparkling white grape juice Schloer at Christmas for non-drinkers.
I am really into Copella's Winter Warmer at the moment, which is fresh pressed apple juice with seasonal spices. It's on special offer at Asda at the moment for £1 a bottle.
The other thing I've got at the moment is another Christmassy drink called Spiced Berry Cordial from Bottlegreen. I got it cos it's on special offer with the milkman (milkandmore.co.uk) but I think you can buy it in Waitrose. You can have it hot or cold which is nice.
You mentioned grenadine which reminded me of a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail too - it's simply made with equal amounts of orange juice and cranberry juice and a generous splash of grenadine.

My favourite non-alcohol cocktail is pineapple juice mixed with coconut ice cream whipped pina colada style in the liquidiser, or if you can't find ice cream use cocount cream and ice - yummy. I also like to crush some strawberries with mint leaves and brown sugar and then top up with appletise.

In our family none of us drink alcohol and we love to have Shloer in. Not because its a substitute but because we associate it with celebration/family times. Asda do one that has a cork to pop so that makes it fun for the children. We also like to drink J2O or lime juice with lemonade. All very simple but we enjoy them and that's what matters most.

PS, you really are a lovely husband. I told each of our children when they married that it was the small things which showed someone you loved them not the grand gestures.
