What would you find hard to give up in these times of austerity?

Yesterday on the wireless someone was talking about what they would find really hard to give up due to the austerity measures that are hitting us all foodwise. The sort of thing that brings you pleasure when you eat or drink it and you really would feel miserable if you just couldn't afford it anymore ?
I had a think and decided that if I could no longer afford to buy my favourite ground coffee I would feel pretty fed up about it. It's my luxury which I know I could do without, but feel I enjoy so much.
What are yours chums ? Chocolates, booze,
cigarettes ??? or even men

I'm torn between ground coffee and apples - I do love coffee, but if apples disappeared, I think I might as well go too!Angie - GC Oct 25: £290.57/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Definitely decent quality
for me too!
Anybody remember the coffee shortages back in the early-mid 70's - about the time that we joined the EEC and one of the Commonwealth Countries (may have been Jamaica) decided to 'teach us a lesson' and we lost out on our coffee/sugar trade with them as a result. I didn't care about the sugar shortage - but the coffee one drove me to distration. Supermarkets were keeping sugar/coffee out of sight and checkout operators at our local minimarket were only offering it to 'regular customers'. I remember my m-i-l going frantic that I could get my hands on sugar easily when she couldn't. My secret was that I always went to the same shop - whereas she shopped wherever she fancied

I've done without most things at one time or another, even as far as loo roll. I'd really not like to do without sex though, so contraception is something we couldn't give up!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Hi,
For me it would be tea. I can't get through the day without at least 5/6 cups of nice tea!
No tea and I would be

Being a very naughty person, I'd miss ciggies, wine and pork chops0

Mine would be nice coffee too, it doesn't have to be ground but it has to be either millicano or instinct. If I had to I suppose I could give up my tin at work and drink tea, but I would still have to have it at home.whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Mine isn't food it's contact lenses.
I am already going through mushed brain menopausal madness and have loads of reading glasses (the cheapie ones) dotted round the house. And yes, I have been known to be wearing more than one pair on my head, whilst looking everywhere for a pair to wear.
I just can't wear glasses all day; they drive me nuts and I get tetchy. I hate not having "side vision" when I wear glasses.
I'm not building a very good case, I know, but I don't smoke, don't drink or have luxuries, so I think I can justify my purchase.
I could tell you the story about when I had two pairs in each eye..... actually.... I'll save it for another day:o:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will. :dance:0 -
It would have to be tea. I buy Ringtons tea as it's the tea I drank in my childhood and now buy it in large quantities online. I love sitting down with a large mug of tea and reading a book, or watching a film and it even gets me through my coursework. I would be upset if I didn't have that tea.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650
