my car insurance is coming up for renewal soon, but i wont be using car for about 6 months , so dont want to pay for the 6 months when not in use.
how will this affect my no claims,
will i still be able to use the full no claims even when not insured for about 6 months

The vehicle has to be SORNED and parked on private property and cannot be kept on a road maintained at public expense.
When your current policy ends, ask your insurer to send you your proof of no claims.
You can normally use that NCD again within two years. Your new insurer may want to know why you haven't been insured during the intervening period.I am a mortgage broker. As above no insuring it for 6 months is no problem.
1st park off the highway on private land where you have permission. Send the tax disc back and declare it SORN.
You have to SORN now if you dont tax it or dont insure it. It was only linked to the tax previously.
Make sure the land is private and not something like a parking space not actually joined to your property.
One example where someone got a ticket was their driveway had a footpath between their front door and the parking space.
Deemed not to be private so given a ticket.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I agree. "Lay-up" cover may be a good idea.dalesrider wrote: »Just also be aware that it could still be stolen or burnt.....
