NHS Redundancy

Hi all
I don't know if you can help me or give me any advice.
I currently work for the NHS and as you may or may not know, PCT's wont exist beyond 31 March 2013.
I'm pregnant and due to start maternity leave in a couple of weeks. I've spoken with my boss as my role does not match in the new structure, which is fine and i'm currently officially 'at risk' of redundancy.
Now, to be honest, I want to be made redundant. I've just returned from my first lot of maternity leave in september '12 and going back off at the end of december. I'm planning on taking a year.
I've spoken honestly with my boss and looking for redundancy but obviously i can't be seen to make myself redundant.
So, i've had to apply for jobs. i've done a very half-hearted application. Closing date for one job was thursday this week. I received an email this afternoon to say i've been invited to an interview on monday morning!!!!!
Now, I have serious childcare issues and am actually on annual leave on monday. But I suppose i have to attend the interview and just pray i don't get it.
i know they can't discriminate me cos i'm pregnant but i'm just hoping that they'll take one look at how heavily pregnant I am and hopefully they'll be another candidate who would be better. I wouldn't be able to start working with them until jan 2014 at the earliest.
i know they can make me redundant even though i'm on maternity leave they just need to cover themselves and i guess i need to cover myself too.
has anyone been in this sort of situation? at the end of the day, if i do end up with a job, then i will just return for the 3 months and leave as i want to be a stay at home mum.
argh. i'm not looking forward to trying to do badly at an interview.
plus god knows what i'm going to do with my baby daughter!!!!!
x
p.s. sorry for any typos

Why.
Has this been identified by the NHS as a suitable alternative, do you agree it might be?
Untill you are offiicaly on notice of termiantion this is just consultation period looking to avoid a redundancy situation they need to be flexable it should not effect any redundacy if you can't go.
I am not sure of the legal possition of "making" people apply for jobs when they still have a job and are not under notice of termination.
"making" as in saying if you don't apply you will lose any redundacy, AIUI if these are suitable alternatives the company should be selecting(interviews is ok) from the pool they think is eligible and offering the job.0 -

Thanks for your reply.
To be honest, I've just been told by my manager that we're not effectively allowed to make ourselves redundant so have to show / justify why jobs aren't suitable.
This job is relevant to what I've done in the past but not to what I've been doing for the past 2+ years.
But it is the same band.
My manager has said I should basically look at all jobs advertised for 'at risk' or 'displaced' employees on the same band and go trough the job descriptions highlighting why it's not suitable/applicable/relevant for me & that I should apply & attend interviews where I could potentially go for that job.
Interesting then that I shouldn't be disadvantaged about redundancy pay.
Looks like I've managed to get someone to look after my daughter anyway so I guess I'll have to go.
Just seems a stupid exercise to me!0 -
Well I went to the interview today, worst one I've ever done. I skimmed the JD last night & couldn't really remember what the job was doing so if I get it - I'll be so shocked.
Anyway I hear later today.
But a question I have, now I've listened to why the job is & entails, I don't think I'd want to do it as its managing people which I hate doing & would never take a job doing ever again.
Can I therefore decline this job if I get offered it? Even though I'm at risk of redundancy? Not been put on notice of refundancy.
Thanks
