Weird eBay thingy.

I recently had a phone for sale by auction with no Buy it Now price. I got a message from a prospective buyer asking if they could pay by cheque or bank transfer instead of PayPal because they were waiting for a new credit card. I did a bit of googling and decided a bank transfer would be safe, and no fees or fears of chargebacks. I replied saying I would be happy to accept a bank transfer but not a cheque, even though the person said I could wait until the cheque cleared before sending I read that some scams involve a cheque looking like it's cleared but then bouncing.
But then this person never made a bid. I know that perhaps they just decided not to or got a better offer, but I'm wondering if it was an attempted scam. I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to eBay but this one is just puzzling.

Its wise to be cautious but I wouldn't get over worried.
People do change their minds.
You can always add them to your 'blocked bidder' list if you are really concerned.0
