Thanks guys :) finally stopped the random tears. I'm just so gutted we are cat-less and cant afford to neuter new kittens or get them jabs, so it will be months before we get any more.

Therefore the TVAW in Berkshire is about to get a bumper lot of boxes, beds and food!

So sorry , I cant imagine how bad that must be to lose two so quickly.:(

Dont some rescues give tokens for free neutering and jabs etc.?.......just a thought in case you are knee-jerk reacting giving everything away under stress and being fed-up. I decided after my last dog went i would'nt ever replace him and was going to give everything away....thankfuly my mum suggested i put it all in her loft in case i changed my mind, as i will get another at some point and will be glad i didnt throw £££££'s of gear away.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Oh I'm so very sorry :( Dreadful news.

We lost two of our cats to the roads within a month of each other last year so I know that horrible feeling, and go on-scream if you want! I did.

Is it a kitten you want? Older cats needing rescue are usually already 'done' And there's always two needing homed together. It's up to you if you want to wait though, just go with whatever you feel, and don't let anyone pressure you

We lost two in a week so I understand how you feel. Coming home to a catless house is horrible. It does ease and I hope your circumstances change and you can get more cats soon. We now have four (two and two spares, lol!) and they make our lives better.
  • What a terrible thing to happen, I feel sorry for your loss.
What about getting an older cat from a cat rescue that been done, injected and is a house cat?.Then you do not have to worry about them getting run over.
  • Oh, no . Very upsetting for you . Don't know what to write except don't give your things away . Our home would feel empty without our cats and I bet yours does too . As another post said, older cats will have been neutered already and I'm sure they'd be lucky cats to come and live with you , when you feel ready , of course . Best wishes .
  • Oh gosh, how terribly unfair, you have my deepest sympathy.
Nothing can replace those you have lost, and it will take time for the pain to start to fade....but leaving the home catless will not make things any easier.
There will be plenty of bonded pairs of neutered/jabbed cats desperate for just such a lovely home as your own so please do not give up hope. Can we ask what area of uk you are in to make suggestions of suitable rescues?
Since I took in a deaf cat over a year ago, mine have all been confined to my back garden with some DIY cat proof mesh/brackets. It does not cost a fortune and the peace of mind is worth every single penny. Maybe you could consider something similar?

    I agree.
If you're Dahn Sahf, Furryfriends in Surrey (Old Coulsdon) has a pair of cats that can be homed separately or together. They ask for a £40 donation but the cats are neutered, jabbed, chipped, etc.

So sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you, such a shock when that happens so quickly too.
Don't get rid of the things though, you might not be ready just yet, but please consider what othes have said about getting older cats which are harder to home and have usually been neutered had all the jabs etc.
Perhaps as others have suggested, house cats? No losing them to cars then.
There are some cats out there just longing for the loving home you could give them - go on - make their Christmas!!

They will never replace the ones you have lost but will help heal the anguish you are now feeling.
