Praise for Barratts Shoes & Vent for River Island

Barratts have newly reopened their branch in my town and had a very positive shopping experience there today.
Shopping with 2 under 2's isn't fun for me, them or shop assistants but the saleswoman in Barratts made it bearable. Very attentive, friendly and didn't mind my indecision! 20% off made it even better.

On the other hand....went into River Island, chose 3 boots to try on, no sales assists would come near me, when I approached the sales person they weren't on the shoe dept, didn't know who was and the second assistant I approached was 'tied up with another customer' before going to stand by the door giggling to other workers, so gave up and took my custom round the corner.

I might be a mum of 3 but I still have some wish to be fashionable (at times!)

All River Island staff r rude/uncaring/moody/wish they were elsewhere.

but ive heard quite a few horror stories from ppl that have worked there so I can actually see why their attitudes stink.

I remember once asking about jobs in there. I was a little bit overweight and one person said, 'what size are you cause you've got to fit into our clothes' - I was a 14/16 - because of my boob size. They looked at me like dirt!

They only want skinny miserable people working there by the sounds of it!

They get paid peanuts and are treated like scum by managers and customers. What's there for the poor beggars to smile about?

At least they have jobs and surely the company has grievance policies in place for if staff feel they are being treated unfairly?

Yes, when you get treated badly you appeal to the person who taught your manager to treat you badly. Then they tell you, "at least you have a job, if you don't like it leave, within a fortnight they've picked so many holes in your work you get dismissed."
