+1 to that i realise you are fortunate to have disposable income but it is brilliant to see someone really take responcibility and "ownership"(hate the phrase but its apt) of their situation:j and sort it out in such a profeesional manner well done and much good fortune in the future. keep posting as ive subscribed!

  • Just wanted to say well done with sorting you money out, and if you could how did you get on with your CPA with Santander I am trying to cancel one myself but they are not having it. Which email address did you use to email them. Thank you

Great thread and well done. Have a friend in a similar position so will be doing the same if possible!

In terms of the monthly payments, are these taken automatically by lenders like Wonga once agreed, or do you pay manually? Did you confirm this in writing or just over the phone?

    Thanks

    Hi there

Most have agreed to a standing order. Qq are slightly more tricky, however as I have a relationship with Walter in their difficulties team, and have dealt with him directly for a number of months, I have no reason to believe they will not honour the plan.

In saying that, I have my wages paid into a 2nd account and only transfer across the total amount to be paid to the pdl.

As I have all plans in writing, despite Santander agreeing to cancel the CPA over the phone, they have since written via the post to say they are unable. However, if anyone breaches the written plan, I can claim back same day as an unauthorised payment.

Hope this helps guys, unless there any any questions for me there probably won't be another update until the end of the month.

Thank you all for your kind comments too, it keeps me going. I'm also on my 9th day of not smoking so that £8 a day will help me be debt free quicker and allow myself the odd treat ;)

Any questions, please feel free. I'll do my best to answer if I can x

    Hi

I sent a secure message via online banking. Even though the have no written to say they can't, they have acknowledged my request so it is their responsibility.

The best advise I can offer is get all plans in writing, then call the company and ask them to confirm the payment schedule on the system, and on dday, monitor as most errors can be resolved as long as its same day,

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you for getting back to me, yes that's what I did and they sent one back saying I need to contact them by phone. Think I am going to drop a letter into my local Santander.Thank you
  • Hi,good to hear you are sorting your situation..I am also in a similar situation..Wonga 800 and payday express 500..I am going to approach them to see if i can pay back in installments..I acnt afford a lot so im hoping to extend the payback plan over 18 to 24 mths..If not im going to have to do a dmp..
  • Hi Kalsmaps,
With Both Wonga and PDE, they were happy with a 10 month plan if you are able to afford this? They did freeze all interest and charges straight away.
The key is to ensure you have all of your income and expenditure clearly written down, as they are more forgiving if you can prove that you are only able to pay them £x due to other commitments.

Hope this helps, good luck, and please let me and others know how you get on x

  • HI there, I am in exactly the same situation where these loans have spiralled out of control and there is no reason other than stupidity. It is so easy to get into the cycle of take one out to pay another and before you know its at this state.

I have approached the companies i have outstanding balances with and some have been more helpful than others. I'm particularly interested in the agreement you set up with PDE - i called them and they were so unhelpful, basically said that if i wasn't sick/disabled or had lost my job that they were unable to help me. from reading your posts i don't think you fall into any of these categories, yes you have an agreement set up with them? Can you advise how you went about this.
