  • Why are they great? Its a bit of both a sweeping statement and a leading question.

Insurers are increasingly tactical when it comes to aggregators so you need to remember you are not always comparing the same product that you would get if you went directly to that insurer (just as some offer different variants between the website and phone). Not all insurers even offer the same products on all aggregators, sometimes its just playing with which optional extras are included by default and which arent, others it is more fundamental.

Aggregators wanted to create promiscuity in customers between insurers and whilst they are surprised that the same exists for the aggregators themselves you should probably try most as well as direct etc. Arguably with modified details to avoid being captured in the duplicated quote issue

    ooh sorry for not clarifying.

what I meant was great in the sense of giving you a choice of financial companies, at your fingertips

  • The same choice has always been there, it arguably used to be more leg work to go around them all but given many dont offer the same products or same pricing structures arguably its made things harder as you could say that you now must check all the aggregators plus all the insurers to ensure that you have the full picture (especially if you want best value rather than just lowest price)

although it is a limited selection and companies purposely downgrade their policies that they intend to put on comparison sites. Comparison sites also only carry certain types of plans. So, if you rely on them, you will be likely to end up with lower quality.
