My DSLR and associated equipment has disappeared from inside my house. The only way it can have gone is via a visitor. Will this be covered by my contents insurance?

You need to look in the terms and condiion before ringing the ins.co.
Was it worth a lot, worth more than the excess of your policy.
Ring the insurance company as a last resort, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As long as you just live with family then normally you will be covered (but some ultra budget ones wont) but you have to report it to the police etc.
If you have friends or lodgers etc or a budget policy then often there must either be signs of forced entry or violence against the person to gain entry0 -
Exceeds to excess by about £500 and unforunately I do have someone staying with me at the moment dog sitting as I am away quite a bit.0

Ultimately, read the terms of your policy and it will state under the Theft section what the exclusions are (such as cases where no sign of entry)0

What has the person you have staying with you have to say.
Have they had any visitors staying over.
And also, of course, have you notified the police of the theft.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

My policy just says theft or attempted theft and does not seem to mention method of entry at all. The person staying with me has not admitted anything but is making himself scarce at the moment and he has had three visitors he 'trusts' when I have not been there. I have had none except my children and my girlfriend.
I think I have resolved to report it and to try and claim.0 -
Who is the policy with? If you bought through a broker then who is the broker as well as the insurer?0
