Where is the r/c sensor lens ?

The remote for my two year old Acer AT2356M has suddenly stopped working. Initially I changed the batts but that didn't do the trick. My Harmony remote also has no effect on it and a poundland job which I have had for a few years effects no response. The troubleshooting page in the manual suggests "Try to clean the remote control sensor lens on the TV with a soft cloth", the problem is that although I have scoured the cabinet with a magnifying glass I can't find the bl00dy thing.
This may be the prob because regretably a lot of cigs are smoked and it a film of nicottine could be the cause.
I did fit a set of r/c mains sockets which are currently on offer from Aldi this week and the prob started a couple of hours later, a possible connection ?

Easiest way to check is remove the r/c mains sockets and see if the problem is still there.
If you can't find the sensor on the TV I'd just give the whole casing a good clean.

  • We use remote control mains sockets, as do a lot of people now that TVs only go down to standby, and it has had no effect.

Do you recall seeing flashing on your tv when you have used your remote, or can you see flashing on it at the moment when you use your remote? The sensor is likely to be in the area of the flashing.
