Hi
I keep getting a blue screen with the above on and then the computer goes into a cycle of rebooting.
As an idiot I have no back up discs or boot discs, is there anyway, as I cannot see another answer of restarting the computer.
I did read somewhere that some computer have hidden in a dark corner, a way of taking the computer back to the factory set up.
It is anm Acer Travelamte 2490, only a couple of months old.
The only change I made was to add another 256 ram, and it all has been fine until now.
Also, would it be advisable to remove the new ram to see if that is causing the problem, would I cause any harm to try this?
Thanks
Martin

not sure how much you have to open these up to add new ram but it could be a poor cable connection, or the hard disk not reseated properlyEx forum ambassador

That stop message has been linked to code failure caused by faulty ram. As browntoa says above, remove the new ram and run the laptop for a few days to see if the problem remains.0

Hi
I've just removed the extra ram and turned the laptop on and the same problems is there.
I have been reading up a little and have found I can restore the laptop to the factory settings, it's called AcerData.
Has anybody any idea how to go about this, I have read one or two things but cannot find the setting mentioned.
It's a Travelmate 2490.

Before you restore to factory settings (this will typically lose all of your personal data), is it possible to remove the original ram and re-insert the new 256? Although not highly likely, it is not unknown for the original memory to develop faults within the first few months.
Your laptop will be slower with only 256, but at least it completely eliminates the ram as a cause of the blue screens.0
