Frankly random testing is a good idea even if it is only to shake out those who think drugs and driving mix. Should be the same rules as pilots for psv in my (unsolicited) opinion

Bald people often have more ear or nose hair, I may have a solution to the op's question!
  • A good point ,pcv drivers ,truck drivers, taxi drivers should not take drugs but a small minority will do it. I do not condone the consumtion of drugs legal or not whilst in charge of a bus truck ect ect.

But like i said before what someone does in their time away from work is nothing to do with thier employer legal or not. A test to see if they are fit to perform thier duties is absolutly fine, but not a test to see what they were up to a few months ago.

its an invasion of thier civil liberties in my opinion an opinion which i am entitled to as we live in a free country
just because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you

Do we have the civil liberty to break the law? Hmm...

If the person in question was employed as a driver a few months ago then the longer term test seems relevant, and less invasive than a short term test every morning.

Are they really likely to be asking for hair samples though? It's usually just a urine sample for random testing.

Now that is taking the p%$£

I'm bald. I have no armpit hair due to botox cosmetic surgery some time ago. I shave my balls. I shave my nose hair because the hair often triggers sneezing. Can't let it grow because it's against my health. I shave my beard because I get the itch if I let it grow.

Really... I have never used any drugs in my entire career. I refuse to submit myself to drug testing. I don't use drugs. Really...

    *6 months later*

I'm so sorry for driving over that child. I swear to God I didn't mean it! And I didn't mean for 6 of 10 of my passengers to die when I crashed into house after running over the kid! It's not my fault! Yes I take drugs but I know I wasn't suffering any side effects! It was a freak accident!

I'm surprised that random drug tests aren't done already. I know someone who went for a job as bus driver and the first thing that happened at the interview was drug and alcohol testing. If these hadn't been negative then that was the end of any chance of a job. All employees are subject to random testing.

I used to work somewhere with random drugs testing - a few people every day were swabbed. If you failed once, it became a lot less 'random' that you were retested. People did lose their jobs as it was a secure environment.

I understand where the OP is coming from, pubes is going to far.

I once got sent to the office as I refused to take of my socks for a random check, I asked what was missing, that the checks had went from checking bags etc to taking off items of clothing, they said nothing we know off we are just checking, so I point blank refused, got a talking to of the manger but that was it, was never asked again, even airports don't ask you to take of your socks!

surely if you failed once, you should have been sacked...isn't that the whole idea?
