when i am downloading films music etc......i get up to my usual download speed but every minute or so my download speed goes down to zero and then gradually builds its way back up to my max download speed again....

There are so many possibilities...
How are you downloading - a standard web browser, FTP server, Torrents, Newsgroups, P2P?
What hardware are you using - ADSL or cable, router or USB modem, wired or wireless?0 -
torrents....adsl...wireless...
it was all workin a week or so ago...but now seem to get these stoppages...0 -
Still many possibilities. Thoughts that spring to mind are -
Overloaded torrent server(s)
Incorrect MTU settings
ISP has introduced shaping (throttling back download speeds on non-web and email ports)
Poor wireless connection (interference from neighbour or new device such as microwave, DECT phones etc)
Over-aggressive security settings (constant scanning of downloaded content by AV software etc)
Best approach is to tackle these possibilities one at a time, see what helps.0 -
cheers....i`ll make a start on the above mentioned.0
