Hi, could anyone give me some advice, please.
On Sunday two cars crashed, outside my house, and as a result my car was
hit aswell.
My car has damage to the rear off side quarter, rear bumper, rear off
side door, rear offside alloy wheel and the fuel gauge is broken.
it's possible more damage has occured, but the car hasn't been inspected
fully, yet.
My concerns are:
1.If my car is repaired, its not going to be the same as it was before.
2.There is going to be new paint and old paint, which will never match.
3.The finished repaired car will be less valueable than the car was before
the repair.
Point 3 is hard to take, as I was about to sell the car.

1) Why not?
2) 99% of cars the pain can be blended in very well. Only very old cars tend to have a problem and then your much more likely to have a total loss anyway
3) Depreciation can be a valid head of claim (and an uninsured loss) if you can get an engineer to inspect the vehicle and agree that the vehicles value has been impacted.
How old is the car? What was your target sale price?0 -
my car is 07 1.7 corsa diesel value is around 5500.
i would rather they take the car off my hands and deal with it and pay
me what the car if worth. Why should i have to have the stress of all this and noone has accepted liability yet.0 -
If liability is disputed between the other parties then there can be circumstances when you can get one of the parties to deal with it on a without prejudice basis as clearly you are an innocent party but not all insurers will go for this (and they would only do so on the absolute agreement of the other insurer) but things like credit hire can encourage them to do so.
Evidently they would only pay out for the car if it is beyond economical repair. If repairs are going to be less than around 75% of the vehicle then it will be repaired.0 -
Sadly at the moment you are bound by the T&C of your insurance so they will repair if worth it and write off if not.
Unless there is something you haven't told us about your car I think you might struggle to get £5.5k as there are dealers on Autotrader offering similar 07 cars starting at £3.5k.
If I wanted a Corsa and had £5.5k to spend I'd be looking for 09/59 cars not 07.
Something like this or this for example0 -
Them cars are cheap but milage abit high, mine only on 36000 but it all depends what an individual wants.Sadly at the moment you are bound by the T&C of your insurance so they will repair if worth it and write off if not.

garage price even at arnold clark is cheaper than you want, also when the new corsa comes out yours will drop heavy.
2008 (08) Vauxhall Corsa, 28683 miles 1.3 CDTi [90] Design 5dr £6,488, so yours if that age would sell for about £4,500Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -

36k is quite low and will help but it still wouldn't come close to tempting me into handing over £5.5k to buy a private 07 with 36k when I could get a 59 car with 80k from a dealer for the same money
good luck with it0
