Thank you very much for the useful advice.

I went shopping with my friend who is also looking for a machine and we saw a Nespresso rep who did a demo for us and I must say that the coffee was wonderful. They were doing a price match on the Citiz and it was £104 plus the £40 credit promotion. The Aerocchino was an extra £46 so it is out of my range but my friend bought one and after helping him set it up at home I am so impressed that I think I'm going to have to go for it! I was surprised to see that the pods are quite reasonable at 30p each too, I know that you have to add your own milk but that costs very little and is much nicer.

I am now not sure what machine to go for. There are so many to choose from, many of which look and appear to be very similar. The Essenza is the cheapest at £90 but if I can get the Citiz for £104 would this be better value? I would be interested to know if the Magimix or Krups machines have much between them, the rep said there wasn't one manufacturer better than the other.

Missile, I asked about flavoured pods and unfortunately they only bring them out occasionally as limited editions which is a real shame as many online reviewers say how good they are.
  • I have the Nespresso Pixie (which I believe is similar to the Citiz). I would say definitely try and save for the aerocino as it makes all the difference.

The only thing i will say is having the nespresso has totally spoilt me and I now have a one cup cafetiere and ground coffee at work as nescafe instant tasts vile in comparison.

There are three different flavoured coffees that are out as a limited edition at the moment, so if these are your thing then maybe stock up :-)

Curlywurley where did you find the flavoured pods? They're sold out online and the rep said that they might bring them out again next year but she couldn't be sure.

    Dolce Gusto pods are expensive
  • Sorry Charlie hadn't realised they had sold out online as haven't signed into their site for a few weeks.
  • Dolce Gusto are about 50p a drink for the ones that need 2 pods 25p for the others. About the same as the others!

I have a Tassimo and have stayed in a few hotels that have had a Nespresso for tea/coffee facilities in the room. For coffee they're both good, but if I had to replace the Tassimo I would buy a Nespresso instead.
I don't like any of the milky drinks from the Tassimo - the pods use condensed milk and taste odd..
If I want a cappuccino I make a standard coffee (Columbian is my favourite on the Tassimo) and use one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000BZ6BXE/ref=wms_ohs_product to froth up the milk. Much better than the Tassmio milk pods.
